Our SOap base ingredients

We have removed as many of the controversial chemicals as possible in our products. We have tried to balance out the formula by taking out some of the unnecessary harmful chemicals and replacing them with plant/fruit based chemicals or essential oils without compromising the effectiveness of the soap.

This is still a work in progress, as without some of the chemicals involved you would be washing yourself in just vegetable fat and smelling like a chip shop.

Soap or soap base itself is a chemical reaction between an acid and an alkali base to form a salt, this is called saponification, without this process you will not get true soap. This is why you sometimes see soaps on the shelves that are labeled under names such as 'beauty bars' this is because of a cosmetic law that specifies that without this process, products can not be labelled as true soap.

At Trueli Nature we like to be transparant, so here is the list of the ingredients in our soap base and a brief explanation of what they do:

Soap Base (SLS/SLES Free)

Glycerin - (Glycerol) is a clear, odourless liquid produced from plant oils.

Citric Acid - Naturally found in citrus fruits and used to balance PH level of soap.

Sodium Chloride - Salt that is used to increase hardness and lather.

Sorbitol -  A humectant that draws moisture from the air to help keep the skin hydrated.

Sodium Stearate - Neutralised fatty acid, derived from plants to help make the soap hard.

Tetrasodium Etidronate - A chelating agent that picks up free metal ions in water.

Titanium Dioxide (white base only) - Natural occurring mineral that makes the base white.

Propylene Glycol - Synthetic humectant that helps skin absorb nourishing ingredients.

Sodium Myristate - Neutrilised fatty acid that increases lather.

Sodium Oleate - Neutralised fatty acid derived from plants that helps with cleansing.

Cocamidopropyl Betaine - Sulphate free synthetic surfactant thats mild and increases lather.

Aqua - Water.

Cocos Nucifera - Coconut oil.

I know some of these may look scary, but we believe it is one of the most natural soap bases available.
