Sodium Lauryl Sulfate/Sodium Laureth Sulfate

SLS and SLES are controversial but widely used chemicals in soap and other cosmetics.

This causes skin irritation with prolonged use, especially in those with sensitive skin.

Both of these chemicals are classed as a detergent and you will find them in most products as they are cheap and visually pleasing due to the foaming effect.

Parabens

​Parabens are used as a preservative that prevent the growth of bacteria. These chemicals are absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream, studies have shown that parabens can mimic oestrogen and interfere with the endocrine system. This means it may have negative effects on your hormones.

Toxic Metals

Some synthetic colours used to make soap contain toxic metals. These can travel through your skin, into your blood stream and accumulate in your organs. This can be very toxic to your internal organs and cause dermatitis on your skin.

​Fragrance

If you see the Fragrance/ Parfum printed on product ingredients this is a secret combination of ingredients that companies do not disclose to customers to protect their recipe. This means that the product could have a concoction of anything in it and the consumer will never know.
